Publisher's Summary
Luxury villas on hot white sand, views for miles over turquoise water.
Flawless hostess Penny gathers guests to an island for her husband’s birthday celebrations.
But she soon regrets inviting self-obsessed Eloise…
When a child vanishes on the night of the party, their perfect island weekend is ripped apart. Even paradise harbours murky secrets…
Has he been taken? Has he drowned?
In the panic to find any trace, Penny casts about for someone to blame—even if that person is her own daughter, Rosie. Even clear waters descend to pitch black…
But it’s not the first time Rosie’s been attacked by her mother. And it’s not the first time she’s turned to Eloise for support.
As the sun beats down and dark secrets rise to the surface, can they find the missing child before it’s too late—or will this sudden disappearance endanger them all? …and someone among them knows the whole shocking truth

I kept waiting for the misdirect, but the ending was perfect. Great narration too.
SPOILERS
I thought midway through the book that when two of the characters figured out what was happening and then worked together to get the little boy back that this was a mis-direction and there would be an "ah hah" moment right at the end so I kept waiting for that. It never happened, But then the ending was perfect, right at the last few sentences. Excellent book.

Will The Rip be a worthy force?
The story seemed like it might have the power to intrigue me...
However, the main characters lacked redeeming qualities. Performed well, it was worth a listen, but I was left unsatisfied, seemed to me the further into the plot we ventured, the less I liked the main characters. I get the need to write 'flawed' protagonists, but flaws should be qualities that the reader may empathise with. Maybe the author was going for 'edgy', I don't know, but I would not want to be friends with either of the leading ladies... Just as I felt I could get on board with some of their behaviours, forgive some misgivings, something else would occur or come to light, and I was ... No, just no - that's not excusable or acceptable.
I'll make sure to read reviews before I purchase another by this author.

Addictive
This was one of those stories you just had to listen until the end - Penny’s character became very wearing at times and l found it very repetitive, the narration of this character was quite annoying at times. Other than that the story line was gripping. An enjoyable listen with a very flawed female main cast - would definitely listen or read more from Holly Craig

Terrible book.
It is rare that the characters in a book have no redeeming features but this one achieved it. I found it an awful story with equally awful characters.

Overall pretty good
I enjoyed and it had me hooked, however, I found Eloise’s motivation to not go to the police flimsy and unbelievable
Aside from that good read and great to have a shout out to the beautiful Rottnest Island

The setting stood out most as it is a local feature near where I lived in Western Australia when I was younger.
I enjoyed the reading of the story and the different ways the readers presented the characters
